Holidays are made to enjoy, so here is some practical information so that everything is simple and your concerns are limited to choosing your activity for the day or choosing your Pastizzi
ARRIVE IN GOZO
It's very simple, you arrive by plane, then you take a taxi, then a boat, then a taxi or a bus.
But it's easier than it looks!
Once at Luqa airport, you must reach the port to take the ferry. You can either take a taxi at the shop on the far left just before the exit (we go to the shop to pay before the race) or a Bolt.

If the weather and your arrival time allow it, take the Gozo Fast Ferry (about ten minutes from Valletta), otherwise you will have to take the Gozo Channel (about 30/40 minutes from the airport, at the end of Malta (only the return is chargeable).
The fast ferry moves a little more so anticipate if you tend to get seasick and prefer the seats at the back of the boat.
Once you arrive at the port of Mgarr in Gozo, you can take a taxi, a bolt, a bus to reach your vacation spot. And if you come to see me, I'll pick you up at the foot of the ferry!
TRANSPORT
Gozo is only 14 km long but with good coasts and not always safe and pleasant roads for pedestrians. The bus network on the other hand is very efficient, as is Bolt.

From July 2023, 2 additional lines join Mgarr at Xlendi and Marsalforn every 30 min during the summer season
BUS

Practical, simple, economical
€15 for the 12-trip card with transfers
purchase at the vending machine in Victoria Bay or at the foot of the ferry. Otherwise the ticket from the driver at 2€ (provide the extra). Make a sign when the bus arrives, otherwise it will pass under your nose!
VTC

1€ per minute
fast, not very expensive and allows you to optimize walking time to make the most of
Download the app BOLT and regsiter your CB and you will be quiet
WALK

The roads are dangerous, there are not always sidewalks and as people drive on the other side... in short, take the bus, forget your heels and save your strength for the hikes!
You can also rent quads or take a tuk tuk excursion if you feel like it, but be careful because there are many accidents.
If you stay several days, you can also rent a car or enjoy the comfort of a taxi. Some companies like MAYJO even offer to take you from Malta airport to Gozo for optimal comfort.
FOOD
As you will have understood, Gozo is a nature destination where coquetry takes precedence over comfort in order to enjoy as much as possible. I recommend the essentials to add to your backpack:

If you like fruits and vegetables, go to the supermarket and prepare your own meal according to your diet.
Greens & Daily fresh offer a large choice.

For an easy & simple lunch, choose the local ftira sandwich with tuna, or pastizzis, or very diet sausage roll.

For a good restaurant for dinner, Casa Vostra is the best pizza in the world for me.
For a slightly more gastronomic restaurant, I recommend Maldonado
If you fancy a generous meal with French flavours and at a very affordable price, go to Ratatouille in Marsalforn, and otherwise there is always Bolt Food!
WEATHER
The UV is strong and there is no shade, the wind is strong too and the weather changes quickly.
The weather in Gozo is halfway between Brittany and Tunisia!
To choose your vacation dates, keep in mind that:

Winter is very green, humid, potentially very windy and rainy and changes quickly but there are always 2 hours of hot sunshine during the day. You have to bring warm and cozy clothes but also light clothing and even a swimsuit just in case.
THEspring is magnificent, the island is very flowery and it is starting to get hot during the day. So if you come between March and June, take warm clothes and shorts and t-shirts, and of course sunscreen.
In addition, from June the festas begin!!!

Summer is hot and dry: plan to get up very early to hike in the cool and take an afternoon nap. Bring mosquito repellent, light pants and a long-sleeved t-shirt to protect you from the sun if the cream is not enough

Autumn is mild and the nature almost desert after the summer, it is a good season to enjoy the pleasures of the island with fewer tourists.
